Islington Boat Club is a water-based activity center, providing BCU and RYA training courses, as well as an active youth programme and schools tuition, for 9-19 year olds. We are set in our own enclosed basin, offering a sheltered space for young people to learn and explore safely. We have an extensive fleet of craft, including kayaks, canoes, sailing boats, bell boats, power-boats and a narrowboat as well as offering dry land arts and crafts activities and games.
Who is Islington Boat Club for
Our youth programme is an open access drop in session for 9-19 year olds, who just need to fill in a membership form before their first session, (download or pop in and pick up a copy). Our school sessions are aimed at young people aged 9 to 19 who can swim 25m in light clothing with a buoyancy aid. Our maximum group size is 12 people on the water per instructor. It may be possible to accommodate more than one group at a time. We also welcome groups or individuals with special needs, and have wheelchair access to some of our craft and facilities. To ensure safety it may be necessary to reduce the group size for people with special needs, disabilities or challenging behaviours. How much does the youth programme cost? Cost: £1.50 per half day / evening, £3 all day session, or £20 per term, £30 summer project, £50 per year. Concessions apply – please see membership form for more information.
